To start, stand with your feet 12 inches apart or so, and your toes slightly turned out. Your feet should face out at an angle of 45 degrees. Keeping your knees out and chest up, push your hips back and slowly lower your body until your thighs are parallel to the ground. When done properly, you would feel a great amount of tension in your glutes and hamstrings.
