The high sugar count of soda contributes to weight gain and is a source of empty calories and zero nutritional value. Drinking large quantities of this liquid sugar will cause your blood sugar to spike which leads to inflammation and insulin resistance. Soda is the number one culprit for gastro-esophageal reflux disease, which is when the contents of the stomach leak into the esophagus, which causes burning and pain of the esophagus from stomach acid.
Soda may not be the exact cause of an ulcer, but they are known to make the pain worse. Sodas also contains 4-methylimidazole (4-MI), which as a direct link to cancer.
