There is little to no proven nutritional value in coconut oil, and it contains similar calorie counts to other animal derived fats like butter (about 30 calories per tablespoon). It is a suitable replacement for these, given that the body metabolizes coconut oil in a more efficient manner. But remember, research on the subject is scarce. However popular it may be, don’t go rushing into making coconut oil a central part of your diet.
